The Silent Voice

People of power, leaders of lands,
Listen well, as we are buried underground.
Threatening clouds of evil are again swirling around,
Can you not feel the oppression gathering around?
Our voice was not heard, will you listen now?
You were deaf to our pleas then, are you now?
Please no more slaughter and killings
Of our sons, brothers and daughters.
We scream for justice,
That our lives be returned.
We know wars accomplish nothing at all.
Let people live without fear,
Pass strong laws to stop all wars
Or make the call up to the forces
Be for those of over forty years.
Please no more slaughter and killings
Of our sons, brothers and daughters
The fear we felt and the pain was bad,
We were sent by you who we thought mad.
Death a relief and then all was clear;
We were used like pawns, in your game of war.
Please no more slaughter and killings
Of our sons, brothers and daughters.
We were young and strong
With a future we thought to be long;
We were struck down
Unlike you who will die in bed,
We were duped like animals
On their way to the slaughter shed.
What of our children, will they too soon be led and dead?
From other lands, from other graves the self same scream is the same
Please no more slaughter and killings
Of our brothers, sons and daughters.
