The Empty Man

Was he an empty man, numb to others pain,
Treating some people with contempt
And others with distain.
A giant in so many ways, the memory of him stays.
Afraid to express emotion, using humour to mask this fact
He does sometimes lack tact,
His sweet kindness can be surprising,
His wit and humour, amazing.
I will miss this friend, who was part of my life,
A giant dreaming of a good and faithful wife;
At last found from afar, now committed to her,
The man no longer empty, we all concur.
