Devil Drink

The  crying child on the line  gave warning
Begging her mother against returning
As her father was brandishing a knife,
Promising to slice up in chunks his wife.
No depths of an angry sea
Could ever be as dark or as dangerous as he.
Foul accusations spewed from his mouth
Hurled at his beautiful  innocent wife.
Menacingly , repeatedly, he  drew his finger across his own throat
Th e marriage was dead ,  she  could be dead.
Alcohol was the poison he had quaffed the night before
His actions and shame for years , the family wearily bore.
Will he now, seek the help he needs,
As love and respect from the marriage, continually  bleeds.
