The Boy Who Wouldn’t Change His Clothes

The Boy loved his suit of clothes,

Wore them all the time he insistently chose.

His mother washed them overnight

So they were ready in the morning, to his delight.

His mother thought, the shirt too tight,

The trousers too short, but didn’t want a fight,

When told of this, tears filled his eyes,

His lips trembling deciding those words were lies.

In the playground, reaching to catch a ball,

His shirt could no longer stretch at all,

Suddenly split and buttons sprang off;

Those there, heartily , laughed and scoffed.

Embarrassed, he gave the clothes to his smaller brother,

The boy now wears clothes, considerably larger.
