Liza Midas

A blue and white diamond in the Mycenaean sea,
Resting in her berth patiently waiting for me.
Gently swaying to the harbour’s harmony,
Of the rattle of masts, and the creak of ropes,
Ready to cast off, to skim and plane the waves.
Then in the evening, unconsciously displaying
herself,
To holiday makers who stop and gaze,
At her sweet self, secured safe in her place,
With friendly laps of water, stroking her hull,
And her deck lights giving, a cosy welcoming
glow.
