Exercise Machine

Black and immobile he waits in the shadows
Quietly, in the far corner of the room,
Urging me to use him soon.
I’m told if I do, I will look young and youthful;
With this promise in mind he temps me and is truthful.

He tells me my cardio vascular system will be immeasurably improved,
My lymphatic drainage will become more efficient too,
My metabolic rate will be speeded up to boot
And my energy levels will go through the roof.

Now I find myself slim and lean on and off my trampoline.
People see years stripped from my being.
I am more beautiful than I have ever been
And I have only twice, jumped on and off my miracle machine.
