The Wedding Vow

She was a young gazelle a wife to be;
Her homeland a distant country far across the seas.
Her countenance serious yet strong, skin dark as polished ebony,
His face light, lined yet youthful was he
As he gazed at his bride with loving pride.
And two souls sang in harmony.
He, gently with solemn integrity,
Promised to love her, be their years many or few.
She pledged her vow with equal sincerity,
Blue eyes fixed on brown, brown on blue
And two souls sang in harmony.
