Our commitment to accessibility

We aim to make this website accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible, including visitors who use assistive technology or who browse without a mouse.

Keyboard navigation

The website can be used with a keyboard. You can move between links, menus and controls using the Tab key, and a visible focus outline shows where you are on the page. A skip to main content link is provided at the top of each page.

Alternative text

Images that carry meaning, such as book covers and photographs, include descriptive alternative text. Images that are purely decorative are marked so that screen readers can pass over them.

Text size and readability

Text is set in clear, legible typefaces with generous spacing and strong colour contrast. You can increase the text size using your browser or device zoom without breaking the layout.

Audio and read aloud features

Some pages, such as the poetry readings, include audio. Audio never plays automatically. Each player has clear controls, and each recording is labelled so you know which poem or passage it relates to.

Reduced motion

Gentle animations are used to reveal content as you scroll. If your device is set to reduce motion, these effects are turned off and content is shown immediately.

Known limitations

This website is maintained and improved over time. Some older content or third party links may not yet meet every accessibility goal. We are committed to addressing issues as they are identified.
