The Boy Who Wouldn’t Stop Licking Things

His tongue stuck out , always at the ready,

To lick anything he sees, even me.

His mouth is full, of the dogs black fur;

Yet still he refuses, to concur,

That licking everything, isn’t a good idea.

Everyone tells him, he will wear out his tongue,

But he doesn’t listen, to his parents harangue.

Today, to his very great dismay,

A big hole appeared, was it going to stay?

To the doctors he was urgently hurried,

The tongue stitched, and bandaged;

But he was really very worried;

As perhaps he may lose it, after all,

And being laughed at, wasn’t funny at all.

Of course in time, his tongue did heal up,

So he could use a fork, and drink from a cup.
